# PDF Editor

A PDF editor has to do two quite different jobs. The first is annotation — adding things on top of a page, which is what most browser tools mean when they say 'edit'. The second is changing what is already in the document, which is much harder: the text in a PDF is a series of positioned glyphs with no notion of lines or paragraphs, drawn in a font that may only be partially embedded. This editor does both. Click any line and it recovers the font, size and fill colour from the document itself, covers the original, and redraws the line to match, telling you before you commit how faithful the result will be. On top of that sit the tools you would expect: text boxes, pen and highlighter, shapes and arrows, images, signatures, stamps and whiteout, plus full page management — reorder by dragging, rotate, duplicate, delete, insert blanks. It runs entirely in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.

## Tips

- **Check the fidelity chip**: Before committing a text edit, the chip tells you whether the line will be redrawn in the document's own font, a close substitute, or as an image.
- **Cover is not delete**: Editing existing text hides the original rather than removing it. Anything genuinely confidential needs redaction, not an edit.
- **Press G to organise**: The organise view expands the page rail into a full grid — much faster for reordering a long document than dragging in a narrow strip.

## FAQ

### Can it edit the text already in the PDF?

Yes. Pick the Edit text tool and click a line. The font, size and colour are read from the document and reused, so the change blends in. Unusual or partially-embedded fonts fall back to a close match, and you are told which before you commit.

### Does editing text remove the original words?

No. The original is covered with a patch matching the page background and the new text is drawn on top. It looks correct in every viewer, but the original text is still in the file and can be extracted. For anything sensitive you need redaction.

### Will the result open in Adobe Acrobat?

Yes. Edits are written into the page content rather than stored as viewer-specific annotations, so they render identically in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and Firefox.

### Is there a page or file limit?

No. Documents under about 50 MB or 300 pages feel instant; larger ones still work because pages are drawn only as you scroll to them.

### What happens if I close the tab?

Your work is saved locally as you go. Open the same file again and the editor offers to restore it. The draft never leaves your device.
